Kotelnik to fight Alexander in St. Louis on Aug. 7 (AP)



Former WBC and IBF light-welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik of Ukraine will fight current champion Devon Alexander of the United States on Aug. 7 in St. Louis. Boxing promoter Don King was in Lviv, Kotelnik's hometown, for the contract signing Tuesday. "He has a great camaraderie (with) the people here," King said.

Souleymane Mbaye of France has earned a unanimous decision over Antonin Decarie of Canada to win a vacant interim welterweight title. Mbaye knocked down Decarie in the fourth round and won all three judges' scorecards. Jose Ignacio Martinez and John Coyle scored the bout 116-113, and Pierluigi Poppi had it 116-112.

Super middleweight Librado Andrade earned a win Friday night when Eric Lucas was unable to continue in the eighth round because of a cut over his left eye. Vitali Klitschko of Ukraine defended his WBC heavyweight championship belt Saturday night with a 10th-round knockout of Albert Sosnowski of Poland. Klitschko improved his record to 42-2 (38 KOs) after the ring referee called the 12-round bout following a left-right combination to Sosnowski's head at the 2 minute, 30 second mark of the 10th round.
