Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones has filed his appeal of a season-long suspension and a hearing with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell should be held within the next two weeks, a league spokesman said Monday. Jones said earlier this month he planned to appeal and NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed Monday that Jones' letter arrived at league offices over the weekend.

Robert Horry did it again. Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez was scratched from Monday night's start against Florida and placed on the disabled list with bursitis in his right shoulder. Hernandez was replaced by Chan Ho Park, who was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans. Cardinals' Hancock killed in car crash (AP)



The St. Louis Cardinals are mourning a teammate for the second time in five years, and it isn't any easier this time. Josh Hancock, a relief pitcher who helped the team win the World Series last season, died early Sunday when his sport utility vehicle slammed into the back of a tow truck, bringing back painful memories of Darryl Kile's death in June 2002.

Cavs fend off Wizards again, take 3-0 lead



In an attempt to inspire the crowd and their teammates, Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler were introduced with the Washington Wizards' starting lineup. Arenas gingerly limped down the steps and across the court on his surgically repaired knee as the crowd went wild.

Nice try, fellas. Game 3, once it started, followed the script as Games 1 and 2.

Nuggets fail to hold home-court edge



The San Antonio Spurs have their swagger back.

Tim Duncan had 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker sliced their way through Denver's defense in a 96-91 victory over the Nuggets on Saturday night.

Pacers fire Carlisle after missing playoffs



Rick Carlisle was fired Wednesday after four tumultuous years as Indiana Pacers coach, following a season in which the team did not make the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

The Pacers finished the season 35-47, their worst since 1988-89. Indiana was 29-24 shortly after the All-Star break, but lost its next 11 games to fall out of the top eight in the Eastern Conference. A loss to Detroit on April 3 clinched the Pacers' first losing season since 1996-97.

After squandering a 17-point fourth-quarter lead, the Spurs held on for a 97-88 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night to even the first-round playoff series.

Manu Ginobili had eight points in the fourth quarter and Tim Duncan added seven points in the final 12 minutes to save the Spurs from losing two home games against sixth-seeded Denver.
