Unit outpitched by Wells in season debut (AP)



It was a duel for the aged. David Wells outpitched fellow 43-year-old Randy Johnson in the oldest matchup of left-handers in major league history, leading the San Diego Padres over Arizona 10-5 Tuesday night. "It was just a matter of who gave up the least amount of runs," said Wells (1-1), who gave up five in five innings.
